Beyond the Algorithm: Why I Built igluon.org for the @igluonvinuls Community
#

I’ll be honest: I am fed up with the “YouTube Maze.”

As a creator, I want my content to be accessible, organized, and easy to find. But as a user, I’ve realized that YouTube’s interface has become a barrier. Between the cluttered sidebars, the broken playlist navigation, and an algorithm that pushes unrelated videos when you’re trying to focus, the experience of watching @igluonvinuls wasn’t what it should be.

That is why I decided to stop waiting for a platform update and build the solution myself. Welcome to igluon.org.

The Problem: The “Clutter” Crisis
#

We’ve all been there. You go to watch a specific tutorial series or a curated vinyl session, only to find yourself:

  • Lost in Playlists: Trying to find “Part 4” in a list of 50 videos involves endless, laggy scrolling.
  • Distracted by Recommendations: YouTube is designed to keep you clicking on anything, not necessarily what you came for.
  • Frustrated by Search: Searching within a channel often brings up results from the entire internet instead of the specific video you remember.

The Solution: A Modern Viewing Experience
#

igluon.org is a dedicated hub designed to strip away the noise. I’ve built this site from the ground up to prioritize content discoverability and user experience.

What You’ll Find on the New Site
#

1. Advanced Playlist Architecture
#

I’ve redesigned how playlists are displayed. No more digging through a tiny sidebar. On igluon.org, playlists are presented in a clean, responsive grid that allows you to see the entire trajectory of a series at a glance.

2. Intelligent, Channel-Only Search#

The search bar on this site is hard-coded to index only my content. If you’re looking for a specific coding tip, a tech review, or a specific track, you’ll find it in seconds without the algorithm trying to distract you.

3. A Distraction-Free Environment
#

The site uses a custom-wrapped viewing interface. This means when a video ends, you aren’t greeted with a wall of random “suggested” videos. You stay within the Igluon ecosystem, making it perfect for long-form learning and deep dives.

This is Just the Beginning
#

Building igluon.org is my way of taking ownership of the viewer experience. While the videos are still powered by YouTube, this site is the “Premium” gateway for those who value their time and focus.

In the coming months, I plan to integrate even more features, such as:

  • Direct Resource Links: Accessing code snippets or downloads directly under the video.
  • Curated Roadmaps: Step-by-step guides for beginners to navigate my library.
  • Enhanced Community Tools: Better ways for us to connect without the “noise.”

Experience it Now

I built this for you—the community that has supported @igluonvinuls from the start.

Stop fighting the algorithm. Start exploring.

I recently had the privilege of presenting to the Developer Collaboration group at UC Santa Barbara, a gathering of both Software Developers and Infrastructure Engineers. The topic was Cloud Native Application Development, but the underlying theme was much deeper: the urgent need to bridge the historical divide between those who write the code and those who manage the systems that run it.

This post will be a short post for those have a YouTube channel. Google recently introduced, Youtube Handles. YouTube handles helps make it easier for members of the community to find and connect with each other. Your handle will be unique to your channel and will be how people mention you in comments, community posts, and more. My YouTube channel handle is iGluonVinyls. Once you have your unique handle name, then you can get a unique URL for your channel as well. For example mine is https://www.youtube.com/igluonvinyls This URL is much easier to remember than the previous GUID based URL.

I downloaded the Bing wallpaper app. It is actually awesome, everyday I turn on my computer to see what kind of wall paper I get for that day. Most of these are amazing! I use them in my desktop and also as my zoom background! Finally, I created a small Power Automate routine, that downloads each day Bing wall paper and saves it on to my drive.
